Dear Identity Parents and Guardians,
We wanted to share some important updates regarding Identity Kids that will take effect this summer, beginning on Advancement Sunday, August 24th .
Updated Classroom Groupings
After much thought, review, and discussion, we will be adjusting the classroom groupings for our older age groups. Our current classroom breakdown is:
- 2–3 Years
- 4–Kindergarten
- 1st–2nd Grade
- 3rd–6th Grade
Starting August 24th, the 1st–2nd Grade and 3rd–6th Grade classrooms will be reorganized to:
- 1st–3rd Grade
- 4th–6th Grade
This change will help balance classroom sizes and create more age-aligned peer groups, enhancing the experience for both kids and volunteers.
Age Guidelines for Advancement
Beginning with this same transition, we will also be aligning our age and grade advancement policies with Canton City School District guidelines. Moving forward, a child will need to meet the district’s age cutoff of September 30th to move up to the next classroom or grade grouping.
(For example, to enter Kindergarten, a child must be 5 years old by September 30th .)
This helps us maintain consistency, especially as many of our children are already following this system in their schools.
Youth Group Transition
As part of upcoming changes, our Youth Group will now be organized by school grade rather than age. Instead of including students aged 13–18, the Youth Group will now include students in 7th through 12th grade. To join Youth Group as a 7th grader, a child must meet the school district’s age cutoff—they must be 12 years old by September 30th .
We believe this update will create a more consistent and enriching experience for everyone in Identity Kids and Youth. Thank you for your continued support as we partner together to help your children grow in faith and community.
If you have any questions or would like to talk more about these changes, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
With gratitude,
Dylan & Kayla Wymer
